Hey groovers,
Welcome to 2023 fam! We are so excited for another year of live music and groovy times. It might be freezing, but we’ve got plenty of great shows to keep you dancing & warm this month.
First, kick off this month with British DJ & house music producer, Hot Since 82, at Avant Gardner on the 1st. We’re sure this will be a great show to start off your year. Peep our Avant Gardner venue guide for all the info you need to have a great time.
Then our girl Abby Jeanne is back with Lovechild, Julian Soto & Gooseberry at Berlin Under A on the 6th. If you haven’t already, check out our interview with her last summer to hear more about how through “equal parts psychedelic and soulful, rock-n-roll and pure groove, the Milwaukee-born, Queens-based songstress is leading the cosmic pilgrimage towards self-love and healing.”
On the 7th, catch the Brooklyn-based alt/indie-rock band, Real Estate, at Racket. If you haven’t heard of this venue before, that’s because it’s Bowery Presents’ newest mid-size venue (replacing The Highline Ballroom, which closed in 2019), and we’re excited to check it out!
We’ve got some jammy celebrations coming to Brooklyn Bowl this month. Starting with the South Bend, Indiana-bred legends, Umphrey’s McGee‘s 25th Birthday Bash on the 19th. Then we’ve got the epic Grateful Dead cover band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead‘s 10th Anniversary party on the 26th.
Finally, we’ll be wrapping up this month with New Orleans-bred jam band, Galactic, at Blue Note Jazz Club. They’re bringing their jazz-funk vibes twice a night (8pm & 10:30pm) the 25th-29th, along with special guests each night.
