Hey groovers,
Somehow it’s already August and we hope everyone’s been enjoying all the groovy times. We’ve got a ton of great artists coming this month to keep the summer vibes strong.
This week, catch some outdoor vibes with the British electronic group, Jungle, doing a DJ set on the Elsewhere Rooftop on Thursday. On Friday, head back for the sister duo, Coco & Breezy, blending house, R&B, pop and Afro-Latino vibes.
On Saturday, groove to trance-house with the label founded by Above & Beyond, Anjunabeats, bringing an epic lineup to The Rooftop at Pier 17. Keep the party going at Superior Ingredients for the Anjunabeats Afterparty. Wrap up this weekend with the DJ alter ego of Anderson. Paak, known as DJPee.Wee, at Webster Hall on Sunday.
Mid-month, we’ve got Disco Tehran at Knockdown Center. The funky dance party is bringing the 1970s era discotheques of Iran to NY for a night of groovin’ on the 11th. On the 15th, catch Americana musician, Shakey Graves, blending blues, folk, country and rock’n’roll at The Rooftop at Pier 17.
Then we’re heading back to the new Knitting Factory Baker Falls for our friend, Michael Incognito (aka “the gay Tony Soprano”) on the 17th. Check out our interview from his last show at the old Knitting Factory to learn more about his mom’s cannolis and his musical journey.
Finally, wrap up this month with Chinese rapper and storyteller, Bohan Phoenix, at SOB’s. Or, groove to some indie rock outside with the American five-some, Local Natives, at The Rooftop at Pier 17.
