Hosting their first show in the early 70s, the Central Park SummerStage has been home to countless festivals, spoken word, and dance events. The majority of performances here are either benefit shows or free admission that typically span from June to October. Grab your sunglasses and head to the park for some epic outdoor dancing.

history

Joe Killian, founder of the Central Park Summerstage, saw the potential that the park had for outdoor concerts and celebration of art for people of all kinds. Festivals, such as the Summerstage Festival and BRIC! have blossomed from this venue and have maintained their inclusivity since the start; there has always been a focus on free art for all, and if not free, then a benefit show. Moving to Rumsey Playfield in 1990, the venue journeyed on to become a calm safe-haven for New Yorkers to relax from city life.
