If you’re looking for a DJ who brings passion to his sets and gets the crowd moving, look no further than Whethan. His vibrant setlist and high-energy remixes were the perfect backdrop for The Hall at Elsewhere, one of the most popular venues for DJs in Brooklyn. The Chicago-born DJ began his music career back in 2016 and has since garnered mass attention from EDM fans all over the world. When the groovement journeyed to Bushwick to catch his Life of a Wallflower tour, we were not disappointed.

Opener Super Computer started the night with robotic-inspired electronic music, complete with their signature computer helmets. TikTok sensation Nick Cheo then wowed the crowd with mashups of different well-known party anthems. Finally, DJ Chet Porter’s set turned the entire Hall into a full-blown nightclub. As the entire audience stared at the DJ booth waiting anxiously for Whethan, a curtain dropped to reveal the hidden main stage at The Hall, and Whethan wasted no time jumping right into his set with his most popular song, “MONEY ON THE DASH – SPED UP,” featuring vocals from Elley Duhé. The hazy lighting, minimalist stage decor, and the dramatic introduction had everyone focusing on Whethan and his incredible stage presence as he bounced to the beat.

In addition to his own original songs, Whethan also wove in his remixes of songs by other artists to keep the crowd on their toes, including “One More Time” by Daft Punk, “FE!N” by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, and “365” by Charli XCX. He poured a little bit of himself and his musical style into each beat drop and hard-hitting chorus, mixing genres such as stutterhouse and dubstep together throughout the entire set to create his own unique flair. Fans were even more excited to hear Whethan’s original music; hits like “PLACE IN MY MIND (feat. shy martin)” and “ROOM IS ON FIRE (feat. AG Club)” were highlights of the show. Whethan’s close friendship and collaboration with Oliver Tree also made songs like “Freefall (feat. Oliver Tree)” even more exciting to hear. To end the set, Whethan circled back to “MONEY ON THE DASH – SPED UP” and played a longer remix of his most popular song to hype the crowd up. The show solidified Whethan’s place in the EDM world as a force to be reckoned with, and we cannot wait to see what he does next.
